About

MizJAI

Ms. J is the poet laureate of  GOSPEL NERVE Cafe.  Appointed by the governing Got Nerve! diva, Jamillah Warner, she oversees all that is poetic, spoken and written in the Cafe.   Her duties are similar to the US poet laureate in that she creates for special occasions and official moments.  These occasions often range from live events, spoken word venues, churches, youth programs and just because the sun is out.

She’s a writer by day and by night. In her free time she enjoys travel, music, books, photography, and more poetry. She plans to explore the world including all seven continents.

Her alter egos, her “other me(s),” and aka identities include:

  • the mild mannered and consummate professional – Jamillah Warner,
  • the sassy, sexy little diva in the board room and on the stage – Ms J, and
  • the place, the Melodious Insightful Zone of Joy And Inspiration (M-i-z-J-A-I)

To keep up – Get Nerve!

As Seen On:

the Cafe:

The Cafe was born out of a mess. It was a couple of years after my divorce to a man who jumped on me during the honeymoon.

I remember those first years, often awake at night and just searching for something. I usually ended up online, because everyone around was asleep.  Back then, I would search words like “happy” or “hope” or “help.”  I found empathy in a few places (as well as some crazy sites), but I wanted something that could save me from a bad thought.

I didn’t want an environment that encouraged pain more than pleasure, because I refuse to be a perpetual victim.  Can’t have five, ten, fifteens years pass by and then find myself crazier than the day I ran away from Rage in the first place.

Growth. Hope. Progress. Change. and Faith are my best options.  So I created what I needed.

I found my answers in words.  Bible Words. Spoken Words. Poetic Words. Encouraging-Inspiring Words. Sometimes fire words. Or singing words. Other times, rainbow words.  Always God words.  The kind of things He could use to reignite my hope.

My favorite words:

“He will give you beauty for ashes…oil of joy for mourning…garment of praise…for heaviness” – Isaiah 61:3

I’ll say up front, “forgive my imperfections, and may something here bless you.”

Welcome to the cafe.

Get nerve! Get blessed! Get moving…Ms. J
